wanakio 2003 consisted of three main platforms: urban exhibition, trans-academy (the educational program of wanakio) and the event series.

Over a period of one month a variety of cultural activities took place in the public space of the down town area of Okinawa's capital Naha. Within the framework of the urban exhibition and the trans-academy a special focus of wanakio 2003 was the "Asian Contemporary Art Networks" platform. A number of artists and curators from East and South-east Asian countries created art works for the urban exhibition and participated in the "Asian Contemporary Art Network" Symposium on November 24th, 2003.
